Welcome back everyone and welcome to my next blog in the series. This week I will be attempting a DIY hack I have been wanting to try for a long time. As soon as I saw this hack, I immediately wanted to try it for myself. This photography life hack is seriously fun and seriously messy. Even if it doesn’t work out for you, you will still have fun trying!
30 SHOCKING TRICKS ADVERTISERS USE TO MAKE FOOD LOOK DELICIOUS (2019)
Let’s have a look at what you will need:
1. A mixing bowl
2. A thin cheese grater
3. A camera or phone
4. A chopping board
5. Cheese
6. A spoon
7. A pizza cutter
8. A paint brush if you have one (if not use the spoon again)
9. Pizza of your choice (works best with deep pan)
10. PVA glue
Now let’s jump straight to it:
· Begin to cook the pizza, you want to ensure the crust and the base is hard and cooked
· Grate your cheese, this will be mixed with PVA so make sure it is fine and fluffy
· Add the cheese to the bowl and begin to add the PVA glue, bit by bit and stir as you go
· You want to achieve a stringy feel, when you lift up your spoon the mixture should attach to it, don’t make it too watery or the mixture will separate when you remove the pizza slice
· Take the pizza out the oven and cut out a singular piece, don’t cut it into multiple slices
· Take a spoon or a brush and apply the mixture to the edges of the pizza slice
· Now place the pizza into the gap and leave to rest
· Set up your camera on and tripod at just above the level of the pizza, set a shallow depth of field to get those commercial aesthetics
· Get a friend to slowly pull the pizza slice away from the pizza, supporting the slice underneath and pulling away slowly and diagonally upright
· Snap away and take some amazing food photography pics
What’s the verdict?
Overall, I found that the experiment went as planned, it didn’t look as good as the tutorial that I was trying to follow but with more experimentation with the glue- cheese mixture I would be able to achieve this look. It is completely achievable and fun to create. The production of this video only cost me £4 and that was for the pizza and the glue. The glue mixture looks identical to melted cheese and the aesthetic was completely pulled off. I would recommend this DIY photography hack to everyone, so with that I give this hack a thumbs up. It’s a ‘TRUE’ from me!
